Palo Alto, Calif. - September 23, 2008 - Blue Vector today announced the appointment of Ed Sterbenc to the position of vice president of sales. In his role, Ed will direct sales strategy and will be responsible for all revenue-generating activities worldwide.
With over 30 years of success-ranging from large, established technology giants to fast-growth start-ups-the Silicon Valley veteran brings a track record of building and leading highly successful sales teams and driving revenue growth and profitability in competitive global consumer and business-to-business markets. Sterbenc started his career at IBM and Tandem Computers where he gained more than two decades of experience in a number of sales, marketing and management roles, including vice president of sales for Echelon Corporation and vice president of sales and marketing for Tandem’s ServerNet Group. In those roles, Sterbenc worked with new technology paradigms and successfully brought both control systems for sensor technology and early “edge” computing solutions to market. Since then, he has held several executive positions, including CEO of SharkRack, where he transformed the business from a product-centric to a services-oriented company, and EVP of worldwide sales at Digital Fuel. Most recently, he was vice president of sales, Americas, for San Mateo, CA-based Nimsoft.
“Ed’s past success in building effective and productive multi-channel distribution comes at a time when Blue Vector is seeing tremendous growth in our core markets,” said Mike Gardner, Blue Vector president and CEO. “His track record is a perfect fit for our ambitious goals.”
Sterbenc’s appointment comes on the heels of significant growth and investment in Blue Vector’s business. Along with a number of important customer wins-including recently announced Walgreens-the company has added several senior marketing and product management professionals, as well as inked agreements with other key industry partners such as Axway and Gebhardt.
“I was initially attracted to Blue Vector both for its unique distributed processing technology as well as its focus on applying it to rapidly growing market segments,” commented Sterbenc. “Coupled with the company’s commitment to developing broad strategic partner relationships, I am convinced that Blue Vector has the right formula for delivering powerful and complete solutions to customers.”
Sterbenc is a graduate of Purdue University where he holds degrees in Computer Science and Industrial Management.
